All is peaceful as the season advances towards celebration.  Freya has still been searching, but without the same fear and confusion that she felt before I helped her send her father away.  Now, rather than needing to know what is happening to her, she is just curious.

It’s opened a few doors for her, if just in her own thoughts.  She’s been digging through many different religious traditions, collecting tidbits of truth.  The modern, “spiritual” beliefs about angels have gotten little more than scorn from her, rather to my relief.  I would hate to be known as simply a shadow, nothing more than a shining light over her shoulder.  She dismissed the traditional belief about messengers from God, because she cannot discern any one message in her encounters with me.  Somewhat to my surprise, she has spent quite a long time reading about jinn in the Muslim scriptures.  She rather likes the idea of being followed by a jinn.

I have not discouraged or encouraged her in any of this searching, and in fact I try not to respond at all.  Freya has started to reach out to me, a little bit, turning her thoughts outward in question or suggestion to test her theories.  It’s easy not to respond, however, when there is so little genuine truth in anything that she has discovered.

I’ve spoken to both Orison and Salathiel, and although they are not pleased at the level of awareness Freya has achieved, they say that as long as we do not reach the level of communication, it will not have a long-term effect on her life.  Salathiel said that it may in the end be a good thing, as it will open her mind to more spiritual matters.

“But remember,” she warned me, “the connection will continue to grow, and real truth may put her at risk.  Keep back as much as you can, and do not respond to her questions!”

As long as I can continue to watch over her, I am happy to obey.  I do not want to bring Freya any more into my world than she already is.

No word either from Asoharith or any of the Fallen.  That quiet does not bring me any peace.
