Today was a strange day.  I had just come from assisting a young Cupid with a case—poor Ivana feels what her charges do so strongly that it was distracting her from her work—when Danit called me to meet with another.  Apparently Merari is too abrupt and straightforward in his actions, and Danit thought that I could assist him with a bit of subtlety.

I enjoy working with the young ones, of course, though I never thought that I would be doing it so soon.  (For those of you who have been wondering, I have spoken to Duerre about Cordell and Hugh; he has made her aware that something is wrong, and now she is stepping closer to Hugh, trying to find out what it is.  This has already had a positive influence on Hugh, and Duerre is optimistic.)  My new status as a Principality gives me more time than I know what to do with sometimes, and I do prefer to keep busy.  I hope, though, that my work with the others will not keep me from taking on new charges of my own.

I will speak to Danit.  Perhaps she will discuss it with the other seniors for me.  In the meantime, Merari and I must go and meet with his charge.  He is a professional juggler[1]—is that not interesting?

[1] Apparently, to juggle is to throw and catch numerous objects in succession, forming patterns and dropping none of them.  It is fascinating to me—like making a living out of the amusement of others.
