To and Fro

Today…I hardly know what to say about today.  I am so tired, and yet I know I will not be able to rest until I have written it. I had been busy, checking in with each of my charges, dealing with a small crisis of nerves on Shannon’s part—she does tend to overreact sometimes.  There was only an hour left that I could remain on Earth without straining myself.  And what an hour it was! As my last stop, I…

Filling In

What a joy it was to see an old friend today!  My mentor, Adnar’el, came to me, and I greeted him with great joy.  I was his watcher while I was still in training, and I have always tried to emulate his caring way with his charges. “The joy is mine, my young friend,” he said, smiling.  A Power with many years of service under his wings, he is slender and sweet with wisdom shining from his eyes.  “I have…

Quickening

I spent last night with Grace, filling her dreams with warmth and softness.  I have been doing the same for many nights.  It seems the easiest way to reach her right now, and little by little her outlook is brightening.  She will rest her hand on her stomach and smile to herself, or she will begin to poke around the apartment, thinking I’ll put the crib here, and here’s a space in the fridge for milk, and what color do…

Soft Truths Temper the Hard Ones

I have spent the past day or so with Harrington, as he walks through a shadow, so to speak.  He went to the doctor the other day, where he received some serious news.  His injury has reached a point that a prognosis can be made as to his future, and it is not quite what Harrington might have hoped. Brid says it is actually quite good: in time Harrington will walk again, though his movements will be limited, and he…

An Uncertain Path to Happiness

Though I have not written of her, I have spent a great deal of time with Shannon in the past few weeks, ever since Danit warned me to have a care with her.  She has been very busy, helping Jace to prepare for the exhibit, which involves preparing prints of the artworks and ways to put them up, deciding how they will be arranged, creating advertisements for the exhibit, and many other things.  She is even trying to get permission…

Elect

Yesterday was election day!  Though he felt it a bit silly, Jonathan went and placed his vote for himself.  Lauren did the same, with great enthusiasm.  Then they went out to dinner with Jonathan’s parents, who had just arrived in town to support their son, and perhaps to distract him.  It was very effective in that latter respect, although to be fair, Felicity Harris is a very distracting person. The results were to be announced this afternoon.  The four of…

To Form a Powerful Bond

I have spent the past day with Grace.  Her pregnancy is progressing well, at least in terms of her physical health.  Brid has continued to check in on her and is pleased. However, Grace is struggling.  First is the difficulty of Con.  He has returned to town and is staying with Michael and Amanda, but Grace does not see him very much.  They exchange messages occasionally, mostly Con just checking that she is well.  When she can, Grace will talk…

Closing the Distance

Arthur’s school held their graduation ceremonies yesterday, the official end of the school year. Today Harrington suggested that he and Arthur go out to lunch to celebrate, just the two of them. Arthur’s immediate reaction was suspicion.  He believed his father was going to scold him for something—perhaps for what he said when they argued two weeks ago.  Up until now, Harrington has behaved as if the argument never happened, but he has not forgotten, and neither has Arthur.  Still,…

Apologies

Since Kayla and her mother will be leaving this weekend, she has been spending the past few days saying goodbye to her friends.  Today she had invited Mary over to her house for that very purpose.  Mary did not know, however, that Kayla had another purpose in mind, as well. When Mary arrived, she didn’t think much of the fact that several cars were in front of Kayla’s house.  She went up the steps, hesitated, and then knocked on the…
